Founder's Take
Every great idea begins with a moment of realization.
For me, that moment came when my mother and sister set out to buy an authentic Pashmina shawl — a timeless emblem of Indian artistry and heritage. To our surprise, the market was overflowing with imitation wool products falsely labeled as “Pashmina.” The essence of this royal craft was being lost in a sea of duplicity, leaving true admirers disappointed and artisans disheartened.
With a Doctorate in Management and over a decade of academic and research experience as an Assistant Professor at a state university, I was always driven by knowledge, authenticity, and purpose-driven work. Yet, witnessing the decline of genuine craftsmanship stirred something deeper within me. Leaving behind a stable academic career, I chose to dedicate myself to a cause that truly mattered — preserving the soul of Indian handloom heritage.
This conviction gave birth to Unfurl the Luxury — an initiative to revive and celebrate the 600-year-old legacy of handcrafted Pashmina. Each piece at Unfurl is lab-tested, certified, and ethically made, ensuring that every creation upholds the integrity and grace of true craftsmanship.
But beyond preserving heritage, Unfurl is about shaping the future — inspiring the young generation to embrace sustainable fashion over fast fashion, and to value the story, effort, and artistry behind every handmade creation.
